FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS VOIP?
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a method of delivering phone service through an Internet connection instead of through a local phone company.
WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF VOIP?
VOIP allows you to have increased functionality that you otherwise wouldn't have with a traditional system. For example, VOIP phones are very portable, allowing you to use your VOIP phone anywhere that a broadband Internet connection is available. You also have the ability to share data and applications through computer-based VOIP systems. Finally, VOIP services are very simple to use and require no more effort than you would use to place a normal phone call.
CAN I USE VOIP ON MY EXISTING PHONE?
Yes. VOIP service is available on ordinary phones by linking it to an Analogue Terminal Adapter (ATA). This special box turns analog phone signals into digital signals that can be sent over the Internet.
IS IT EXPENSIVE?
No. In most cases, VOIP service is usually less expensive than obtaining service through traditional phone companies.
HOW DO I FIND OUT IF VOIP WILL WORK FOR ME?
